I began my love of art at an early age under the guidance of my mother, an amazing
artist who continues to be one of my greatest teachers.
I was born in California, but graduated from Macalester College, MN, with a B.A
in Studio Art and a minor in Dance and Theater. I then began my own business doing
commissioned portrait painting while at the same time working as a greeting card
illustrator at Mara-Mi, teaching art to children, and dancing professionally. After
a few years I moved to New York City to further my art career. I studied at the Art Students
League with Nelson Shanks, Everett Raymond Kinstler and Leonid Gervitz as well as at the New York
Academy of Art with Chris Pugliese, but I am always learning and finding inspiration from artists
and teachers along the way. I currently live in New York City with my husband
I find it fascinating to be able to capture someone's spirit on canvas. The eyes draw me
in, for they truly are the "windows to the soul".
